
It was a painful sight as traders whose goods got burnt wept uncontrollably at Hippo Ware House Ifejirika Street Sokoto Road Main Market Onitsha.
The fire outbreak at Hippo Warehouse, according to an eyewitness, Mr. Emmanuel Ogenyi started around four o’clock in the morning from a flat in the area and spread to other buildings.
Mr Ogenyi commended the firefighters who arrived with two tankers to contain the situation.
On his part, Mr. Innocent Umealajekwu expressed dismay over the lost traders recorded in the fire incident and noted that the warehouses contained more polyester materials, clothes, and bales worth millions of Naira, praising traders who helped to secure goods.
Firefighters are still trying to contain the situation as at the time of filing this report.
