NNPP condemns arrest of its member in Kano

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has criticized the arrest of one of its members, Aiha K. Nass, by security agencies in the state.

Speaking at the party’s headquarters, the NNPP State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, described the arrest as unacceptable and urged security agencies to avoid taking sides in a democratic system.

It the statement, the party called on all security agencies to desist from biased actions in a democratic setting.

He called for the immediate release of Aiha, saying every citizen has the right to freedom of speech and association.

Karaye also urged the Kano State Government to respect democratic principles, stressing that democracy is the foundation of its authority.

The party appealed to its members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding while the matter is being addressed.

“Finally, the party calls on all to remain calm, law-abiding, and adhere to the rules of the game,” the statement added.
