Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has directed the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic to commence the verification process for staff members who were dismissed by the previous administration while still being owed salary arrears.
Governor Otti made this announcement while addressing journalists during his monthly media chat, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” at Government House, Umuahia. He emphasized that the move is aimed at ensuring that affected workers receive their rightful entitlements.
I have directed the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic to start the process of verifying staff of the school who were sacked by the previous government while being owed salary arrears, so that we can get them paid,” the Governor stated.
The directive signals the government’s commitment to addressing past injustices and ensuring that workers who were unfairly dismissed receive fair treatment. Many of the affected staff, who were reportedly laid off under unclear circumstances, have faced financial difficulties due to unpaid salaries.
