The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled its Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, due to alleged involvement in anti-party activities. This decision was made after an emergency meeting presided over by the Abia PDP Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah.
The party had previously suspended Senator Wabara for one month, but after reviewing the Disciplinary Committee’s report, the Abia State Working Committee (SWC) unanimously approved his expulsion. According to the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), an expelled member cannot exercise any rights or privileges within the party.¹
The Abia State Executive Committee has recommended the immediate appointment of an acting BoT Chairman by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.
The Abia PDP reaffirmed its commitment to upholding party discipline and ensuring that all members operate within the framework of the PDP Constitution. “No member, regardless of status, is above the party’s rules and regulations,” stated Amah.
Furthermore, Amah disclosed that the party would soon approach a court to declare vacant the seat of Hon Rowland Chinwendu, the Lawmaker representing Isialangwa South State Constituency, following his recent defection from the PDP.
